Dr. Asante-Asamani receives funding to improve prostate cancer screening
Dr. Emmanuel Asante-Asamani together with a collaborative research team led by Cancer Biologist, Dr. Olorunseun Ogunwobi of Michigan State University, have been awarded $75,000 over one year by Michigan State University’s office of Research and Innovation to investigate the utility of Serum PVT1 biomarkers for prediction and risk stratification of prostate cancer. This award is in response to a Health Equity Research Funding Opportunity launched to catalyze innovative research that advances health equity, fosters multidisciplinary collaboration, and lays the groundwork for competitive external funding applications. As a sub-recipient, Clarkson University will receive $15,000 to create a machine learning model to predict the risk of prostate cancer using a combination of serum-based biomarkers and demographic data obtained prospectively from a clinical cohort of patients.
