Pragyan wins best poster award at summer RAPS
Pragyan Kadel, a master’s student in the data science program, received the best graduate poster presentation award in the Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Modeling and Data Analytics track during Clarkson Universities Summer Research and Project Showcase (RAPS). Pragyan worked this summer in Dr. Emmanuel Asante-Asamani’s research group to develop predictive models for prostate cancer using sparse kernel-based machine learning methods such as support vector machines and relevance vector machines. This project, a collaborative effort between Dr. Asante-Asamani and Cancer Biologist, Dr. Olorunseun Ogunwobi at Michigan State University, is aimed at reducing the false positive rate of current prostate cancer screening test by coupling novel PVT1 serum biomarkers with existing PSA tests.
